cine:memóriaarquivo em movimento

The cine:memória project was born from the desire to continuously collect films that align with the Family Film Project’s concepts of Archive, Memory, and Ethnography. Its aim is to promote the preservation and dissemination of these materials—primarily composed of images and sounds—for artistic, curatorial, educational, or research purposes.

Cine:memória has two main objectives:

To preserve individual and collective memory through a permanent open call for original films, whether self-produced or from personal archives.

To encourage the reinterpretation of the materials it holds through the development of curatorial and artistic projects in residence.

Send Us Your Films

As part of a permanent open call, we invite the public to share their films in any format and contribute to the preservation of individual and collective memory—documenting families and their communities, migrations, celebrations, and intimacies.

Completed or raw films are accepted, with a maximum duration of 4 hours. Any format is welcome, including Super 8 and VHS.
Submission of materials should be arranged by contacting us via email at cinememoria@familyfilmproject.com
Materials submitted to the archive will be authorized for use by third parties in the festival’s curatorial or artistic projects.
All contributions will be preserved as an integral part of the archive.
This permanent open call does not replace the festival’s annual official film selection.

IN RESIDENCE

More than a static collecting archive, this project aims to invite the artistic community to produce new interpretations based on the archive materials, through creative residencies that foster the intersection of filmic memory and artistic experimentation. The outcomes may take various forms, including film-concerts, cinema screenings, installations, audiovisual works, performances, and more.

An ethic of care is proposed, where memory is understood as a sensitive individual and collective material, constantly evolving and open to reinterpretation.

The 1st edition of the IN RESIDENCE call will be announced soon.
