TOMER HEYMANN 

ISRAEL

Tomer Heymann was born in Kfar Yedidia in Israel in 1970 and has directed many documentary films and series in the past ten years, most of them long-term follow-ups and personal documentations. Tomer also directed documentaries about local culture heroes. Tomer’s films “Aviv – Fucked Up Generation”, “It Kinda Scares Me”, “Paper Dolls” and “I Shot My Love” were theatrically released in cinemas in Israel and around the world, making Tomer one of the Documentary Film industry’s leading directors.

NAMIR ABDEL MESSEEH

EGIPT, FRANCE

Born in 1974, Namir Abdel Messeeh lived his early childhood in Upper Egypt. He is currently based in France where he obtained a masters’ degree in cinema at the University of Paris VII and studied directing at La Femis. He directed two short fiction films before exploring more personal questions through his short documentary “You, Waguih”.

CLAUDIE LÉVESQUE

CANADA

Claudie Lévesque obtained her B.A. in Film Production from Concordia University in 1991. For more than ten years, she has worked in film and video as an artist and cultural worker at artist run centers. Since 2003, she participates in the Montreal Super 8 Festi- val as well as other collective creations where she directs several shorts. MA FAMILLE EN 17 BOBINES / MY FAMILY IN 17 TAKES (2011) is her first experimental documentary.

Regina Guimarães aka CORBE (Porto, 1957) and Saguenail aka SERGE ABRAMOVICI (Paris, 1955) live and work together since 1975. HÈLASTRE is the sign under which they develop mutual work. Besides their university teaching activities and together with their individual research and creations they have been creating work in partnership, as much as in writing (specially for theatre), as in cinema (specially documentary) and as in critic (specially cinematographic).

PAULA ALBUQUERQUE

UNITED KINGDOM, NETHERLANDS

Paula Albuquerque, PhD Candidate in Artistic Research at ASCA, University of Amster- dam. Born in the UK, lives and works in the Netherlands. She has studied Audiovisual Art at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy and completed her Master of Fine Arts Degree at the Sandberg Institute. Albuquerque’s experimental film-based artwork has been presented worldwide within the context of group exhibitions in galleries, live-editing performances in digital arts festivals and film festivals.

SOKOL KERAJ

ALBANIA

Sokol Keraj was born in Lac, Albânia in 1976. He graduated Film Direction from the Na- tional University of Theatre and Film “I.L. Caragiale”, Bucharest, Romania. The he pur- sued a Master in Film and Advertising Aesthetics at the same university. Since 2009 he is a doctoral student in Media Studies at the University of Bayreuth in Germany. From 2004 to 2009 he taught at several universities in Bogota, Columbia.

TIAGO AFONSO / MAIO AFONSO

PORTUGAL

Tiago and Maio, father and son, have been living together for six years. In that period Tiago directed, among others, Música de Câmara, Cerejas ao Borralho, Saturado, Lefteria=Liberdade, Bolhão 2008. Maio is by chance the most demanding spectator of Tiago’s films, and maybe because of that Tiago has challenged him to his first experience of co-directing.

JOSÉ MIGUEL MOREIRA

PORTUGAL

Born in 1964. Screenwriter and cinema director. He has a degree in Cinema and Video, by ESAP and a degree in Cinema by the National Conservatory of Lisbon. He is a certificate lecturer in the area of audivisuals and multimedia. he teaches audiovisual techniques for 16 years and also teaches image, sound and multimedia.

MARCO GIANFREDA

ITALY

Graduated in Theoretic Philosphy he attends School of Creative Writing and Screen- play. With his short films “Tana libera tutti” (subject and screenplay), “Io parlo!” e “Pizzangrillo” (wrote and directed) he was granted the official selections of about 250 in- ternational film festivals obtaining more than 110 awards and a nomination at David of Donatello. Now he is working on the script of his first feature film.

RASMUS FORMAN

DENMARK, PORTUGAL

Rasmus Forman was born in Denmark in 1973. Rasmus grew up in the countryside where he took part at the local radio. At University he studied Philosophy, but later changed to Multimedia & Teaching. As a professional he has worked as Professor teaching Visualization and Citizenship Education, and now in the extent of E-learning as a consultant and designer. At the moment Rasmus is based in Portugal and Denmark, where is taking the Expressive Arts course.

PEDRO SENA NUNES

PORTUGAL

Pedro Sena Nunes was born in Lisbon in 1968. In 1992 he completed the degree in Cinema at Escola Superior de Cinema in Lisbon and studied in different school around Europe. Traveler and father of three, director, producer, photographer, professor, artistic consultant, at the moment he works as co-artistic director and producer at Vo’Arte, where he created performances and programmes several multidisciplinary festivals. He collaborated with CiM in creating new possibilities to integrate people with special needs.

GASTÓN SOLNICKI

ARGENTINA

Born in Buenos Aires in 1978. He studied cooking and then changed his path to continue his studies in New York at the International Center of Photography and the Tisch School of the Arts, where he received his BFA in Film. Suden (2008), his debut feature is followed by Papirosen (2011).

CHRISTINE HÜRZELER

SWITZERLAND

Born in Solothurn in 1967, lives and Works in Zurich. Studies in geography, sociology and ethnology at Universities of Fribourg and Zurich. From 2001 onwards diverse film- related training courses, including documentary film-making, and film studies (FOCAL Bern and Zurich Universities of the Arts, University of Zurich). Since 2001 collaboration on a variety of research capacities, and as Assistant Director.

AMARANTE ABRAMOVICI

FRANCE, PORTUGAL

Graduated in Cinema in France, Amarante has returned to Portugal, country where she grew up, in 2004. Her work, preliminary guided to experimental documentary, has been taken hybrid paths, granting collaborations with artists from other areas. In recent years she often collaborates with Museum Serralves and she has launched an univer- sity investigation regarding Amateur and Political Cinema in the 1970s in Portugal.

DAVID DOWNES 

NEW ZEALAND

David Downes is a New Zealand born composer/filmmaker who has pursued a diverse and individual creative path. His moving image work includes experimental video, long form narrative filmmaking, animation and computer generated imaginary. Down’s music work includes private and public commissions, orchestral and electro-acoustic pieces. Currently Downes holds the positions of 2012 Composer In Residence at the New Zealand School of Music.
 

BRUNO SIMÕES / PAULO LIMA

PORTUGAL

The musician Bruno Simões and the actor Paulo Lima are two friends who share a deep passion for cinema. Both have directed the short film “Corações, caras não”, and also the intimate documentary about the band Depeche Mode, an award winning project by Rádio 90 FM. “Tu que lavas no rio” is their last short film directed in 2010. Currently they are preparing a medium length film “Depois fazemos contas”.

Tomer Heymmann nasceu em Kfar Yedidia, Israel em 1970. Nos últimos dez anos tem realizado vários filmes e séries documentárias, a maioria revisões a longo prazo de documentações pessoais.
Tomer também realizou documentários sobre heróis da cultura local. Os filmes de Tomer “Aviv Fucked Up Generation”, “It Kinda Scares Me”, “Paper Dolls” e “I Shot My Love” foram lançados nos cinemas de Israel, assim como em outros países, fazendo de Tomer um dos principais realizadores de cinema documental da actualidade.

Claudie Lévesque tem um bacharelato em Produção Cinematográfica da Universidade de Concórdia concluído em 1991. REGINA GUIMARÃES aka CORBE (Porto, 1957) e SAGUENAIL aka SERGE ABRAMOVICI (Paris, 1955) vivem e trabalham juntos desde 1975. HÉLASTRE é o signo da sua obra comum. Além das suas actividades docentes, e a par das suas pesquisas e criações de carácter individual, têm construído uma obra em parceria, tanto na área da escrita (sobretudo teatral) como na área do cinema (sobretudo documental) e da crítica (sobretudo cinematográfica).

PAULA ALBUQUERQUE

Reino Unido, Holanda

Paula Albuquerque, Doutoranda em Investigação Artística na ASCA, Universidade de Amesterdão. Nascida no Reino Unido, vive e trabalha em Amesterdão. Completou o Bacharelato em Arte Audiovisual da Gerrit Rietveld Academy e o Mestrado em Belas Artes do Sandberg Institute, ambos em Amesterdão. Os filmes experimentais e insta- lações de Albuquerque têm sido apresentados por todo o mundo no contexto de ex- posições colectivas em galerias, live-editing performances em festivais de artes digitais e festivais de cinema internacionais.

Sokol Keraj nasceu em Lac, Albânia em 1976. Formou-se em Realização na National University of Theatre and Film “I.L. Caragiale”, Bucareste, Roménia, onde também realiza um Mestrado em Filme e Estéticas de Publicidade. Desde 2009 é aluno de doutoramento na Universidade de Bayreuth, na Alemanha em Estudos de Média. Tiago e Maio Afonso, pai e filho, vivem juntos há seis anos. Nesse período, Tiago realizou, entre outros, Música de Câmara, Cerejas ao Borralho, Saturado, Lefteria=Liberdade, Bolhão 2008. O Maio é porventura o espectador mais exigente dos filmes do Tiago, e talvez por isso o Tiago o tenha desafiado a esta primeira experiência de realização a dois.

Nasceu em 20 de Novembro de 1964. Argumentista e realizador. Curso Superior de Cinema e Vídeo na ESAP. Curso Superior de Cinema na Conservatória Nacional de Lisboa. É formador certificado na área dos audiovisuais e multimédia. Professor de técnicas audiovisuais no en- sino profissional desde há 16 anos e Professor de imagem, som e multimédia.

Formou-se em Filosofia Teórica e frequenta a Escola de Escrita Criativa e Guionismo. Com as suas curtas-metragens “Tana libera tutti” (assunto e guião), “Io parlo!” e “Pizzangrillo” (escritor e realizador) conseguiu a selecção para cerca de 250 festivais de cinema arrecadando mais de 110 prémios e nomeações e uma nomeação no David de Donatello. Agora está a trabalhar no guião da sua primeira longa-metragem.

Rasmus Forman nasceu na Dinamarca em 1973, cresceu no campo onde fez radio local. Na Universidade estudou Filosofia, mas mudou para Multimedia & Ensino. Como professional trabalhou como professor de Visualização no Ensino Superior e em Educação para a Cidadania, e agora no âmbito de E-learning como consultor e designer. Actualmente vive e trabalha em Portugal e Dinamarca, onde está a fazer o curso de Expressive Arts.

PEDRO SENA NUNES

Pedro Sena Nunes nasceu em Lisboa em 1968. Completou o Curso de Cinema em 1992 na Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema e estudou em diferentes escolas na Europa. Viajante e três vezes pai, realizador, produtor, fotógrafo, professor e consultor artístico, trabalha actualmente como co-director artístico e produtor da Vo’Arte, onde cria espectáculos e programa diversos festivais multidisciplinares. Colabora com a CiM na criação de novas possibilidades de integração de pessoas com necessidades especiais.

GASTÓN SOLNICKI

Argentina

Nascido em Buenos Aires em 1978. Estudou culinária e depois mudou de rumo para continuar os estudos em Nova Iorque no International Center of Photography e na Tisch School of the Arts, onde completou um bacharelato de artes em Cinema. Süden (2008) foi o seu filme seguindo-se Papirosen (2011).

CHRISTINE HÜRZELER

Suíça

Nascida em Soleura em 1967, vive e trabalha em Zurique. Frequentou estudos em geo- grafia, sociologia e etnologia na Universidade de Friburgo e Zurique. A partir de 2001 frequentou diversos cursos de formação cinematográfica, incluindo realização de documentário e estudos fílmicos (FOCAL Berna, Universidade de Artes de Zurique). Desde 2001 colaboração numa variedade de competências de investigação, como directora assistente.

AMARANTE ABRAMOVICI

França, Portugal

Formou-se em Cinema em França, tendo regressado a Portugal, país onde cresceu, em 2004. O seu trabalho, à partida orientado para o documentário experimental, tem vindo a tomar caminhos híbridos, privilegiando as colaborações com criadores de outras áre- as. Nos últimos anos tem vindo a colaborar regularmente com o museu de Serralves, e encetou um trabalho de investigação universitária acerca do Cinema Amador e Político em Portugal na década de 70.

DAVID DOWNES 

NOVA ZELÂNDIA

David Downes é um realizador e compositor nascido na Nova Zelândia que tem se- guido um caminho criativo diverso e pessoal. O seu trabalho com a imagem em movi- mento inclui vídeo experimental, produção de filmes de narrativas longas, animação e imagens geradas por computador. A música de Downes inclui encomendas privadas e públicas, orquestrais e peças electro-acústicas. Actualmente tem a posição de Com- positor Residente 2012 na Escola de Música da Nova Zelândia.

BRUNO SIMÕES / PAULO LIMA

O músico Bruno Simões e o actor Paulo Lima são dois amigos que partilham uma grande paixão pelo cinema.
