In this hands-on workshop, we will transform slides (diapositives) into magical, living frames using drawing, painting, and playful animation techniques. Each child will create images that tell stories of friendship — encounters, adventures, shared moments, and discoveries. Through the magic of light and projection, these creations will come alive, weaving into a large, collective narrative brought to life by all participants.

Tânia Dinis

Tânia Dinis (1983, Vila Nova de Famalicão) is an artist and filmmaker whose work spans experimental and documentary cinema, blending archival imagery, family memory, performative practices, and relational aesthetics. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Fine Arts at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto (FBAUP), where she also completed a Master’s degree in Contemporary Artistic Practices (2015). Tânia holds a degree in Theatre Studies from ESMAE (2006) and attended a workshop on editing and reappropriating archival material at the Escuela Internacional de Cine y TV (EICTV, Cuba), specializing in Cinematic Creation from Family Memory (2020).

Her film work has been awarded nationally and internationally, with highlights including “Tão pequeninas, tinham o ar de serem já crescidas” (Best Portuguese Short at IndieLisboa and Best Portuguese Documentary at MDOC, 2024), “Laura” (Best Film at Arquivo em Cartaz – Brazil, 2017), and “Não são favas, são feijocas”, which received over ten awards at festivals such as Curta 8, Cortéx, Mulheres do Mediterrâneo, and Dresdner Schmalfilmtage.

In parallel, she develops artistic projects with a strong research component, such as Álbuns de Guerra, Linha de Tempo, Operariada, and Corpografia, in co-production with institutions like DGARTES, CIAJG, Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Teatro Oficina, Teatro Experimental do Porto, and Solar – Cinematic Art Gallery of Vila do Conde. She is a university lecturer in the fields of theatre and cinema (University of Minho and ESAP) and has served as a jury member in festivals such as Porto/Post/Doc, MICE, Curtas Vila do Conde, and FAMILY FILM PROJECT.

Her work is represented in the Contemporary Art Collection of the Municipality of Porto and the Harvard University Library. Tânia’s artistic practice explores the overlap of various artistic fields, creative processes, genealogical and narrative frameworks, delving into themes of intimacy, memory, everyday life, and rurality, through a constant dialogue with memory, oral history, and visual documents.
