Her film work has been awarded nationally and internationally, with highlights including “Tão pequeninas, tinham o ar de serem já crescidas” (Best Portuguese Short at IndieLisboa and Best Portuguese Documentary at MDOC, 2024), “Laura” (Best Film at Arquivo em Cartaz – Brazil, 2017), and “Não são favas, são feijocas”, which received over ten awards at festivals such as Curta 8, Cortéx, Mulheres do Mediterrâneo, and Dresdner Schmalfilmtage.
In parallel, she develops artistic projects with a strong research component, such as Álbuns de Guerra, Linha de Tempo, Operariada, and Corpografia, in co-production with institutions like DGARTES, CIAJG, Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Teatro Oficina, Teatro Experimental do Porto, and Solar – Cinematic Art Gallery of Vila do Conde. She is a university lecturer in the fields of theatre and cinema (University of Minho and ESAP) and has served as a jury member in festivals such as Porto/Post/Doc, MICE, Curtas Vila do Conde, and FAMILY FILM PROJECT.
Her work is represented in the Contemporary Art Collection of the Municipality of Porto and the Harvard University Library. Tânia’s artistic practice explores the overlap of various artistic fields, creative processes, genealogical and narrative frameworks, delving into themes of intimacy, memory, everyday life, and rurality, through a constant dialogue with memory, oral history, and visual documents.
