Speed is a meditation on memory and aging. Distance and speed are two of the variables in the formula for uniform motion. The other variable is time. This formula is a way to calculate a journey – how long it takes, how fast you get there and how far you travel.

Pattiann Koury was born in rural North Carolina. She has an MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute and a BFA from the California Institute of the Arts. She currently lives and works in the San Francisco Bay Area, where she teaches photography, film and digital media at The Oxbow School.
