Tânia Dinis
Tânia Dinis (Vila Nova de Famalicão, 1983) is a filmmaker and artist. Her work unfolds between experimental and documentary cinema, combining archival footage, family memory, performative practices, and relational aesthetics, with a particular focus on stories led by women and on often overlooked labour contexts. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Fine Arts at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto (FBAUP), where she completed an MA in Contemporary Artistic Practices (2015). Her films have received recognition both nationally and internationally. Notable works include Tão pequeninas, tinham o ar de serem já crescidas (Best Portuguese Short Film at IndieLisboa and Best Portuguese Documentary at MDOC, 2024; Best Documentary at the Rome Independent Cinema Festival and Porto Femme International Film Award, 2025; Audience Award at the Mostra Internacional de Cinema Etnográfico do Museo do Pobo Galego), Laura (Best Film at Arquivo em Cartaz – Brazil, 2017), and Não são favas, são feijocas (2013), which received more than ten awards at festivals including Curta 8, Cortéx, Mulheres do Mediterrâneo, and Dresdner Schmalfilmtage. Alongside her filmmaking practice, she develops artistic creation and research projects such as Operariada, Corpografia, Álbuns de Guerra, Linha de Tempo, and Morada Aberta, in co-production with institutions including DGARTES, CIAJG, Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, Teatro Oficina, Teatro Experimental do Porto, and Solar – Galeria de Arte Cinemática de Vila do Conde.
