dusty blues, flashes of white Performance

An audiovisual performance-concert by Diogo Alves Pinto and Rossana Mendes Fonseca. The sonic layer is composed of songs—confessionally autobiographical in nature—that unfold stories of loss, resilience, and self-discovery. Each song becomes a fragment of an intimate diary, an attempt to understand what connects and disconnects us from others and from ourselves. The visual layer combines still and moving images. Photographs from a personal archive intertwine with a seascape suspended in an endless cycle. Disintegration, fragmentation, and erasure emerge through the superimposition of images that multiply, repeat, reflect, and continuously convulse. Each image reveals layers of memory and dust, whose virtual nature is both materialised through the action of light and rendered spectral by it. The result is a shared, open-ended, and uncertain narrative, emerging from two voices and two artistic practices that, in this encounter, discover, test, and transform one another. The project premiered at the 2024 OvarExpande Festival and was subsequently reconfigured as the installation dusty blues, flashes of white at CRU Creative Hub in March 2025, accompanied by a series of live performances lasting between 20 and 30 minutes.

Rossana Mendes Fonseca is a visual artist, curator, and researcher. Her practice emerges from the dialogue between image and thought, unfolding within the expanded field of photography as an inexorable exploration of time, perception, and memory.

Diogo Alves Pinto

Diogo Alves Pinto is a musician, producer, and cultural activist. He founded Planalto Records, which has released dozens of albums and organized hundreds of concerts in Portugal and abroad. In his late teens, he formed Gobi Bear, a one-man band with which he has taken his music to more than a dozen countries.
