THE CREATIVE PROCESS OF MY MEXICAN BRETZEL
In this masterclass I will talk about the creative process behind my first feature film, My Mexican Bretzel. I will explain the stages and decisions followed from the moment I found the 8 and 16mm film reels in my grandfather’s basement until the day the result was screened for the first time, eight years later. To do so, I will show several examples of parts that were discarded along the way. I will also address issues related to the use of family archive material, the blurred boundary between documentary and fiction, the relationship between text and images and the treatment of sound.
