SPECTRUM - PERFORMANCE

27 Thu. | Session 2
Passos Manuel

SPECTRUM (*) is an image projection and improvise musical performance, departing from the appropriation of found footage and archive photographs.

“Spectrum” simulates the chemical decay of photographic material, reproducing a portraits’ selection of anonymous people from the 1930s combined with found transparencies, of several kinds, colours and textures, subjecting the film to a chemical and mechanical destruction. A triple projection of 35mm film, with the rhythm and the un- certainty of cardboard mask live manipulation and in interaction with a live sound concept, that uses field recordings processed analogical audio tools and improvised music, adding to the emergence of a metaphysical experience, as in a spiritualist session.

Cesário Alves: manipulation and screening of slides departing from found material and portraits be- longing to Adriano Studios.

Sound concept: Miguel Pipa
Invited musicians: Miguel Ramos ( contrabaixo / improvisação) and Angélica Vasquez (harp/ improvisation)
