FERNANDO JOSÉ PEREIRA
Porto, 1961, lives and works in Porto, is a founding member and current co-director of VIROSE, www.virose.pt and the experimental electronic music collective Haarvöl.
Integrated member of the Research Institute in art and Design (University of Porto) and the group of aesthetics and Theory Of Arts of the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Salamanca. Multidisciplinary artist with a preponderance in movement images. His film activity is located on a porous border between the Fine Arts and cinema. The images at the beginning of this century have lived in an absolutely adverse condition. The technological changes we are experiencing and observing as spectators, in an increasingly rapid succession of their evolution, pose new problems. Art and cinema are no exception. On the contrary, they are where the most significant transformations are taking place. Two of them have great relevance for this discussion: the increasingly compressed temporalities and a constant evolution around technological autonomization, disguised as democratic, which allows the massification of images. In other words, the conceptual exchange of the notion of quality for quantity. What positions will be possible for artists and filmmakers to continue working outside this territorial construction to which they do not want to belong? What can be done in a time without time to reflect? Why remain inactive in this semantic construction called actuality? These are unanswered questions, asked daily, and can only be "answered" through sensitive work itself.

A pretext: after 11 years of intense work in the atelier, it was dismantled. The space will have another use. As in the landfill, another image will form from the one that existed. This situation fostered a reflection on contemporary images and their relationship with memory and history. All images were shot in the atelier, as we know, a space for experimentation and work. Hence, also, the character of the process that the film goes through in its images. A past event triggers the entire narrative that develops according to a monologue logic.
