One day, an old water pipe caused a ceiling leak. On this ceiling, toxic mushrooms of the order Polyporales would grow. Sitting on the toilet, the lady of this house looks up and observes that magical and mysterious fungus, which is not an animal, nor a plant. The mushroom is the future, she thought.

Rita Barbosa (1979, Porto) is a film director and visual artist with a degree in Digital Arts from the Sound and Image course at UCP (2002). Her artistic practice is mainly developed in the filmed image, having worked in collaboration in creation, writing and visual conception of projects in the areas of theatre and performance. She has been working in advertising since 2006. Her show Amigos Imaginários (2019) is on international tour and has already been presented at Festival Noorderzon, CCB, PT.21, Rivoli, Convento São Francisco, Teatro do Funchal, Teatro Oficina, etc. His first short film À Noite Fazem-se Amigos (2016) premiered at the Locarno Festival. His short film 2ª Pessoa (2022) received the award for best short film at the Caminhos do Cinema Português Festival and was selected for the international competition of Winterthur, Go Short, Glasgow Short Film Festival, Malaga Festival. She directed the telefilm for RTP Jogos de Enganos (2023), from the series Contado por Mulheres.
