Graduated in Cinema in France, Amarante has returned to Portugal, country where she grew up, in 2004. Her work, preliminary guided to experimental documentary, has been taken hybrid paths, granting collaborations with artists from other areas. In recent years she often collaborates with Museum Serralves and she has launched an university investigation regarding Amateur and Political Cinema in the 1970s in Portugal.
