La Colonial is located in one of the oldest working-class neighborhoods in Mexico City. Today, it shelters a community of men, who, faced with the adversity and marginalization of contemporary society, have build a home within themselves.

David Buitrón Fernández directed the documentary short film Zapata 252, winner of the jury prize in the framework of the Doctubre Challenge at the DOCSMX Festival 2017. The short film Naufragio, which premiered at FICM 2020 and the documentary short Distintos tiempos, co-directed with Jocelyn López, had its international premiere at Liberation DocFest Bangladesh 2021. Director of photography of the documentary short film Llegando a México, directed by José Paz, special mention at the DOCSMX Festival 2018. His debut documentary premiered at the 18th FICM where it received the Michoacán Section Eye and had its international premiere at the 35th Rencontres Cinélatino Toulouse where it won the Signis Award.
