biografia

Alexandr Baev is a beginner documentary filmmaker from Georgia. With first degree in editing he studied documentary film making at Ilia State University Education tv center. His film “once upon another time” is his graduating film from film school. Artist Statement: Flea market was always magnetizing me, i think because of my father. He was also selling items after Tbilisi civil war in 1995 at “barakholka”. I was 7 years old, but very impressed with its strange people and strange items for sale. It is a place where you can find selling items from personal collection to items founded in dustbin. Since childhood i have got a feeling that time have stopped here. First decision was to show this place with its unusual items, because only few people know about this hidden location. During the process of the film I realize that items without human is nothing. And life of family living in tiny barracks is more important for observation. For most of us is hard to imagine how people can work and live in such place, argue about everything, and have no hope for a better future. Last hope are children marry and gocha, who, maybe will have the same life. But no one can predict the future.
