The Light of Masao Nakagawa

In 1996 After 91 years of operation, a camera portrays the last breath of the “Nakagawa” photo studio. Its workers reveal the memory of its founder Masao Nakagawa, a Japanese immigrant, founder of the first photographic studio in the north of Peru.
Hideki Nakazaki Peruvian-Nikkei filmmaker. Graduated at the International Film and Television School (EICTV, in San Antonio de los Baños) in Cuba, as a filmmaker with the specialty in fictions films. He completed a documentary film diploma at the Cinematography Observatory in Argentina. In the 2022, he participated at the Berlinale Talents BA Program. His projects focus on identity, memory, and immigration. Nakazaki is founding partner of the audiovisual production company N35 Films. The short films La Luz de Masao Nakagawa and Entre dos Islas directed by Hideki Nakazaki have been selected at different festivals around the world such as: Mar del Plata International film festival, Festival du Court Métrage de Clermont-Ferrand, Malaga Festival, The Brussels Short Film Festival, Biarritz Amérique Latine Festival, Buenos Aires International Documentary Film Festival, Lima Film Festival, Bogoshort Festival, Frontera Sur Festival, among many other festivals. Hideki Nakazaki is currently working on his first documentary film project La Luz de Masao Nakagawa. This project has already been a winner of the National Long Format Documentary Project Contest 2021 and the National Contest of New Audiovisual Media 2021, both by the Ministry of Culture of Peru. As well as the development fund IDFA Bertha Fund (IBF Classic).
